GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – In a game that saw seven yellow cards and a red card, Colorado Mesa prevailed 1-0 over the visiting Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Friday evening at Walker Field. The Mavericks extended their win streak to nine and their shutout streak to six.
Colorado Mesa's lone goal came off a corner kick in the 19
th minute.
Nestor Escobar bent the corner into the goal box where
Roy Abergil headed in his tenth goal of the season. For Escobar, it was his fourth assist of the season and moves him into third place on the all-time assist list.
The match was physical from the outset with 23 total fouls. Of the seven yellow cards handed out, six went against Colorado Mesa.

th minute of the match, Maverick
Sean Foster received a red card forcing CMU to play a man down for the final 36 minutes of the match.
Brandyn Bumpas was spectacular in goal, making eight saves and facing 18 total Skyhawk shots. Bumpas made six of his eight saves with ten men on the field.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Sunday when they play Adams State at Walker Field at 1pm. It will be the final regular season match for the Mavericks and it will serve as 'Senior Day'.
