GOLDEN, Colorado – The No. 14 Colorado Mesa men's soccer team picked up its tenth win of the season on Wednesday evening after defeating the Colorado Mines Orediggers 1-0 at CSM Soccer Stadium.
The Mavericks got on the board just before halftime when
Austin Jex launched a free kick towards the Oredigger goal from about five yards in from the midfield stripe. Jex found the upper left corner on one bounce for his first goal of the season.
That was all Colorado Mesa needed to secure their seventh win in a row and their fourth straight 1-0 win.
The Mavericks and Orediggers were even on shots at 16 a piece but Colorado Mines had two more shots on goal this evening.
Brandyn Bumpas picked up the win in goal making five saves and securing his fourth shutout of the season. Bumpas moved his record to 6-0-0 on the season.
Colorado Mesa moves their record to 10-2-1 on the season and 8-1-0 in the RMAC.
The Mavericks will close out their midweek road trip on Friday with a match against the Colorado Christian Cougars in Lakewood.
