Colorado Mesa will face a New Mexico school for the second straight week as it heads to Silver City, N.M. to face Western New Mexico Saturday (Oct. 18).  

Series
CMU leads the series 6-4 with Western New Mexico since they joined the RMAC in 2004. The Mustangs have won three of the five games played in Silver City, N.M. 

Turnovers
Colorado Mesa forced a season-high six turnovers (five interceptions, one fumble) against New Mexico Highlands last weekend. The Mavericks rank tied for 14th in Div. II in turnovers gained at 17. Mesa ranks tied for 13th nationally in turnover margin at +1.67 per game. 
Western New Mexico ranks tied for 130th out of 167 in turnovers lost at 15. 

Interceptions
Colorado Mesa tallied five interceptions last weekend against New Mexico Highlands. The five interceptions are the second most in a college football game this season regardless of division. CMU has 11 interceptions as a team this season, eighth most in the nation and second in the RMAC. 
Dustin Rivas tied his season-high with two picks against NMHU. He currently ranks third in the nation and leads the RMAC with six interceptions this year. 

Cota Continues to Impress
Andrew Cota turned in another strong game for the second week in a row. He completed 25 attempts, the most by a Maverick quarterback this season, on a season-high 40 attempts. Cota finished with 271 passing yards and 108 on the ground. He also had four touchdowns (two running, two passing). Cota leads the team in total offense (976 yards), passing (734 yards) and second in rushing (242 yards). 

Catching Passes
Ian Juede caught seven passes for a season-high 105 yards and two touchdowns against NMHU. He has been the favorite target of CMU quarterbacks this season leading the team in catches (28), receiving yards (305) and touchdown catches (three).

Price is Right
Jordan Price had his best game of the season returning punts last week. The Fort Worth, Texas, native returned three punts for 74 yards (24.9 ypr), including one for 35 yards. He is averaging a team-high 18.4 yards per punt return this season, second most in the RMAC. Price is averaging 27.8 yards on kick returns, including one for 80 yards. He also has two interceptions as the Mavericks starting cornerback.  

Scoring on Turnovers
Colorado Mesa has scored 69 points off 17 turnovers this season (4.1 points per turnover). CMU's opponents have scored just six points off turnovers this season. 

Grass
The game at Western New Mexico will be the first game Colorado Mesa has played on grass this season.

Looking Ahead
Colorado Mesa will host Fort Lewis for Homecoming on Oct. 25.
