Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – CSU-Pueblo out rebounded the Colorado Mesa men's basketball team 46-35 in an 84-67 win over the Mavericks Thursday (Jan. 9). The two teams split the season series after CMU defeated CSUP 79-77 during the Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic Dec. 1.
Sophomore
Ryan Stephan led the Mavericks with a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds.
The Thunderwolves capitalized on eight Maverick turnovers with 11 points to lead by five at the break, 40-35.
CMU struggled over the final 20 minutes shooting just 33-percent (9-27) from the field.
Mesa would mount a comeback late cutting the Pueblo lead to just four after a thunderous dunk by Stephan with five minutes remaining.
The Thunderwolves would close the game on a 17-4 run for the win.
CSUP shot 76-percent (19-25) from the line, while CMU shot 58-percent (14-24).
Junior
Jon Orr followed up from his career night at Colorado Mines with 12 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the field, and eight rebounds. The Thatcher, Ariz., native recorded both of the blocks for CMU.

Jerry Duckworth was the third Maverick in double figures with 13 points, including three 3-pointers.
Julian Caldwell led four Pueblo players in double digits with 16 points.
Mesa (7-6, 5-4) will host UC-Colorado Springs Friday (Jan. 10) at 7:30 pm.
