Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa sophomore
Ryan Stephan scored a game-high 14 points but No. 13 Colorado Mines had four players finish in double figures in a 65-48 win over the Mavericks in front of 967 fans at Brownson Arena Friday (Jan. 31).
Stephan shot 6-of-7 from the floor and made both free throws attempts.
Brett Green only shot 3-of-9 from the floor but made all six free attempts to lead the Orediggers with 13 points.
Mines came out and shot a game-high 50-percent from the floor over the first 20 minutes and held Mesa to just 19 points on 38-percent shooting. Mines led 31-19 at the break.
Mesa's defense stepped up over the final 20 minutes holding Mines to a game-low 36-percent. CSM out-scored CMU 34-29 in the second half behind 15-of-20 shooting from the free throw line. Mesa shot 4-of-9 from the charity stripe in the game.
Neither team found much success from behind the arc shooting a combined 9-38 (.236).
Mines finished with a 38-25 rebounding edge in the contest.
Colorado Mesa (8-10, 6-8) will host Colorado Christian Saturday (Feb. 1).
