Box Score LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Colorado Mesa fell to the Colorado Christian Cougars 97-60 on Friday night at the CCU Events Center. The loss ends the Mavericks four-game winning streak and drops them to 7-4 on the season, 5-2 in the RMAC.
Ryan Stephan led the Mavericks with 14 points and 10 rebounds, his third straight game with a double-double. Stephan was 3-for-5 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Mike Melillo also finished with a double-double. Melillo had ten points, 12 rebounds and was 5-for-6 from the field.
Colorado Mesa shot 45 percent (19-for-42) from the field and shot 66 percent (20-for-30) from the free-throw line while the Cougars shot 49 percent from the field, including 48 percent (18-for-37) from behind the three-point line.
The Cougars were led in the game by Avery Redmond's 28 points.
At the half, Colorado Mesa trailed by as many as 22 points but cut the lead to 16 at the half, 52-36. The Cougars shot 55 percent (10-of-18) from the three-point field goal line and 51 percent from the field.
Ryan Stephan had 13 points and seven rebounds in the first half.
The Mavericks will play tomorrow night in Golden against the Colorado Mines Oregiggers at 7pm.
