Cougars Tally Last Second Goal to Defeat Mavericks

Box Score LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Colorado Christian scored two goals in the final five minutes of the match including the game-winner in the final two seconds to claim a 2-1 win over Colorado Mesa.

Colorado Christian took a corner kick with just two seconds left in regulation and Cougar Meghan Troupe was able to get her head on it and found the goal as time expired.

"Congratulations to CCU who fought through the 90th minute. To be successful in this conference it is critical that we put together a full 90 minutes of soccer," Maverick Coach Erin Sharpe said about the match.

The Mavericks got on the board early in the match when freshman Isa Revelle scored her second goal of the season. Revelle took the rebound off a Sarah Pope shot that hit the post and found the goal from three yards out.

CCU's first goal came in the 86th minute of the match when Erin Dalton scored from about six yards out to knot the match at 1-1.

Colorado Mesa outshot the Cougars in the match 13-8 and took more corners 7-2.

The Mavericks will look to rebound from the loss when they play the Metro State Roadrunners on Sunday at Walker Field starting at noon.
