The Colorado Mesa University baseball team concluded their four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series with the Regis Rangers on Sunday afternoon at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks jumped out to a 5-1 lead after four innings and were able to tack on four more late in a 9-1 win over the Rangers. Colorado Mesa improves their season record to 37-7 and 31-3 in the RMAC while the Rangers fall to 23-15, 18-14 in the RMAC.
Kyle Davis was the story in this game. Davis limited the Rangers to a lone run in his seven innings of work, his longest outing of the season. He allowed to five hits, walking just one and striking out eight including seven looking. Davis is now 7-0 on the season and 15-0 in his Maverick career.
Third baseman
Justin Rosales finished the game 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Rosales had a RBI double in his first at-bat of the day scoring
Jake Kluge.
Kevin Mitchell added to his homerun total in the third inning. Mitchell hit a three-run shot that cleared the left field wall and gave him his third homerun of the weekend. He also has a team-leading seven homeruns, which is tied for second in the RMAC.
Colorado Mesa will conclude their regular season next weekend with a pair of doubleheaders against Colorado Mines at Suplizio Field. FIrst pitch next Friday is set for 3:30pm.
The RMAC Champion Mavericks will host the RMAC Tournament comencing on May 8.
