Mavericks Complete Sweep of Metro State

The Colorado Mesa University baseball team finished their four-game, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series with Metro State on Sunday at Auraria Field in Denver. The Mavericks led 10-3 after eight innings and if that wasn't enough they had a six run ninth to put the Roadrunners away 16-3 and complete the four-game sweep. It was their fourth four-game sweep on the season.

MItch Corwin and Jake Kluge each had three hits and three RBIs for the Mavericks. Corwin also scored three runs while Kluge hit his sixth double of the season.

Shortstop Nate Robertson went 2-for-6 with three runs scored and four runs driven in. Robertson hit a pair of two run triples in the game including one in the first inning that gave the Mavericks a 3-0 lead.

Kyle Davis got the start and earned his fifth win of the season. Davis pitched five innings and allowed one run on three hits, walked two and struck out five. He is coming off a week where he was named the Rawlings/RMAC Pitcher of the Week.

Colorado Mesa is now 30-6 on the season and 24-2 in the RMAC. They are currently ranked seventh in both the Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA national polls.

The Mavericks will travel to Lakewood next weekend for a four game series with Colorado Christian. The series will begin on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 12:00pm at All-Star Park.
