Colorado Mesa (14-5, 11-4 RMAC) fell to Colorado Christian University (10-13, 5-10 RMAC) 83-65 on Saturday night at the CCU Event Center in Lakewood. The Cougars' 83 points is the second highest point total CMU has allowed this season (84 points at Adams State).

Clay Kame finished with a career-high and game-high 17 points and handed out five assists on the night. Kame was 6 of 12 from the floor including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. Jeff Hart recorded 15 points and seven rebounds. Colton Burgon finished with 13 points and three rebounds before fouling out with  2:57 remaining in the game.

CCU took an early lead in the game on a trey by Wayne McCullough for a 5-4 advantage and never trailed again in the contest. The Cougars extended the lead to double digits in the first half making the most of CMU's 12-first half turnovers. CCU held a 40-25 halftime lead.

Colorado Mesa opened the second half on a 15-6 run to cut the deficit to single digits (40-48) with 14:40 left in the game. A layup by Mac Alexander to close the gap to eight points was the closest the Mavericks would come to the Cougars. CCU's Kyle Weaver's 3-pointer pushed the Cougars lead back to double-digits, which the Cougars would maintain the remainder of the contest.

CMU shot 46 percent from the floor and hit 14 of 20 from the foul line. CCU shot 54.5 percent and connected on 16 of 25 free throws. The Cougars held a 33-29 rebound margin and forced 19 CMU turnovers. Five Cougars' registered double digit figures.

Colorado Mesa returns home this weekend to host Black Hills State and Chadron State in Brownson Arena. Friday's tip-off versus BHSU is slated for 7:30 p.m.
