Mavericks Drop Series Final 8-4

The Colorado Mesa University baseball team concluded its three-game series against the UC San Diego Tritons in La Jolla, Calif. on Sunday afternoon. The Mavericks fell 8-4 in the finale and drop to 1-2 on the season.

Colorado Mesa pulled within one run in the top of the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings but couldnt shut the Tritons down in any of those innings. The Tritons outhit the Mavericks in the game 16-12 but also struck out more at the plate 5-4.

Nolan Snell got the start and took the loss, pitching 3.1 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits walked two and struck out two. Tony Audino, Joey Danner, Bryan Green, and Dakota Behr all pitched in relief.

Braden Box, Austin Kaiser, and Nate Robertson all finished the game with three hits.

The Mavericks will take next weekend off but will have their home opener on February 15 against Montana State-Billings at Suplizio Field. First pitch on the 15th will be at 2:30pm.
