The Colorado Mesa University baseball team will have their season opening series this weekend at Suplizio Field. They will take on the GNAC's Montana State-Billings in a four game series scheduled to begin on Friday at 2:30pm. Here is a quick preview of the series.

MSUB Preview: The Yellowjackets opened their season with six games in the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. They went 1-0-1 against Dakota Wesleyan on their opening day then fell four times to Missouri Southern.

On the mound, the Yellowjackets could feature three left handers in their rotation. Samuel Patterson and Brady Muller pitched the opening doubleheader last weekend while freshman Tanner Watson pitched game four on the weekend. Patterson picked up the lone win for the Yellowjackets and went six inning and allowed just two hits while striking out two.

MSUB shortstop Colby Robison was an all-region player as a sophomore and continues to lead the Yellowjackets on the field. He has a .308 batting average this season with two doubles and has driven in two.

Last Season: This is the first meeting between the two schools.

Mavericks Preview this weekend: Colorado Mesa is coming off a bye week. In the opening weekend, the Mavericks went 1-2 against #23 UC San Diego in La Jolla, Calif. CMU dropped the opener 6-2 but rebounded for a 5-2 win in game two. In the rubber match, despite a late rally CMU fell 8-4.

Austin Kaiser had a good weekend at the plate going 6-for-12 with three runs scored and a double.

Matt Williams picthed the Mavericks to the game two victory. Williams went six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits, walked one and struck out seven
