Melissa Hess hit .500 with 17 kills and only one error for the Colorado Mesa volleyball team but it wasn't enough as they dropped a 3-1 decision to Western New Mexico Friday (Nov. 8).
Mesa hit .250 to win the opening set 25-18. After hitting .098 in the first set, Western New Mexico hit .324 and .378 in each of the next two sets to win 25-20 and 25-21. The Mustangs rattled off 10 straight points late in the third set to win 25-19.
Abby Ney hit .292 for CMU with 10 kills, and
Christian Otzen added 11 kills.
Jordyn Moody finished with 44 assists, and
Sunni Rae Baird tallied a match-high 21 digs.
Kaysee Pilgrim led three Mustangs in double digit kills with 17.
WNMU out hit CMU .253 to .204 and finished with a 60-52 edge in kills.
Colorado Mesa (19-7, 11-6) will host CSU-Pueblo Nov. 15.
