Colorado Mesa will make its home debut this weekend in the Holiday Inn - Airport Thanksgiving Classic. Mesa will host Montana Western Friday (Nov. 29) and CSU-Pueblo Sunday (Dec. 1). 
Coach Shantz
Head coach Andy Shantz begins his first season as head coach at Colorado Mesa after serving as a long time assistant for the Mavericks. Shantz replaces Jim Heaps who accepted an administrative position in the athletic department.  
Game High
Junior Landon Vermeer scored a game-high 23 points in an exhibition at BYU. The Littleton, Colo., native made five-of-eight shots from behind the arc and drained all six free throw attempts. Vermeer is averaging 12.5 points per game, third most on the team. 
Double Digits
Junior Jerry Duckworth scored in double-digits for the first time in a Maverick uniform in the loss at BYU. The Federal Way, Wash., native scored 12 points in 14 minutes off the bench. Duckworth is averaging 6.5 points this season and ranks second on the team with three 3-pointers.

Colorado Mesa ranks fourth in the RMAC in 3-point shooting at .444.
Free Points
Colorado Mesa ranks second in the league in free throwing shooting at .793. CMU opponents are shooting .625 from the line, second worst in the RMAC. The Mavericks have made nearly as many free throws (38) than their opponents have attempted (39). 
Last Time Out
Six players scored in double figures for BYU in an 85-60 win over Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks held the Cougars to just one 3-pointer in the contest but BYU drained 31 free throws in the win.
Looking Ahead
Colorado Mesa will open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play at home when it hosts Chadron State on Dec. 6. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
