Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Colorado Mesa fell in the RMAC quarterfinals on Tuesday night 3-1 to the visiting Colorado Christian Cougars in front of 814 fans in Brownson Arena. The loss knocks the Mavericks out of the RMAC Tournament and drops their record to 21-8 on the season.
Colorado Christian took the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-21 while the Mavericks won the third set 28-26. In the fourth set, Colorado Mesa led 26-25 but then surrendered three straight points and dropped the set and the match.
Abby Ney paced the Mavericks with 16 kills and seven digs while
Melissa Hess and
Casey Ball both finished the match with double figure kills.
Senior
Sunni Rae Baird finished the night with a match-high 21 digs and
Jordyn Moody had 45 assists.
The Mavericks hit .095 in the match while the Cougars hit .190 and had 14 total blocks in thee match.
Colorado Mesa will have to await the word of the NCAA to find out whether or not they will get a bid into the NCAA Tournament.
