Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Christian Otzen finished the match with 28 kills and 17 digs to lead Colorado Mesa to a five-set, 3-2 win over New Mexico Highlands on Saturday night in Brownson Arena.
After winning the first set 25-12, Colorado Mesa dropped the next two 22-25 and 21-25, falling behind New Mexico Highlands 2-1. The Mavericks came back strong winning the fourth set 25-14 and the fifth set 15-4.
Otzen had ten of her career-high 28 kills in the fourth set and had a .434 attack percentage in the match.
The Mavericks hit .301 as a team and didn't commit an error in the fifth and deciding set. They also only committed one error in the fourth set and hit .500.
Abby Ney and
Melissa Hess each finished with double figure kills with 11 and 12 respectively. The duo also finished with a combined ten blocks.
Jordyn Moody tied a season and career-high with 59 assists in the match while
Sunni Rae Baird finished with 27 digs in her final regular season home match.
The win moved the Mavericks record to 21-7 on the season and secured them the #3 seed in the RMAC Tournament. Colorado Mesa will face Colorado Christian on Tuesday at 7:00pm in Brownson Arena.
