Defense Key in Volleyball Victory

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa held the CSU-Pueblo volleyball team to a .014 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over the Thunderwolves Friday (Nov. 15). The win was the 20th this season for the Mavericks.

CMU easily won the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-17, after holding CSUP to hitting percentages of -.074 and .023.

The Thunderwolves hit a team-high .081 and held the Mavericks to a team-low .047 to win the third set 25-21.

CMU rallied from a 16-8 deficit to win the fourth set and the match 25-23.

Mesa finished with a large lead in kills, 57-35.

Christian Otzen and Melissa Hess each finished with a match-high 13 kills for CMU. Abby Ney added 11 kills and hit a match-high .435.

Jordyn Moody tallied a match-high 43 assists, and Sunni Rae Baird finished with a team-high 18 digs.

CMU will play its final home match of the regular season against New Mexico Highlands Saturday (Nov. 16).
