Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Mines, Falls to Northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. – Miranda Reetz continued her winning ways for the Colorado Mesa women's swimming team by leading a 1-2-3 finish for the Mavericks in the 100 breaststroke at Northern Colorado Friday (Nov. 15). The Denver, native won in 1:09.21. Ashley Ochsner was second (1:11.55) and Katie Thompson was third (1:13.90).

Reetz also won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:16.66.

The Mavericks had four other wins on the night.

Maddy Wigg won the 1,650 freestyle in 18:45.71, and Kat Gerstmar swam the 12th fastest time in school history to finish third in 19:11.79.

Briana Purkapile was the only swimmer to go under two minutes to win the 200 free in 1:58.32. She also finished fourth in the 100 fly with the 17th fastest time in school history (1:03.14).

Amanda Jennings won 1-meter diving with a score of 222.30. Teammate Savannah Craft was second with 199.65. Jennings finished second in the 3-meter event with a score of 249.10.

The Mavericks capped off the night with a win in the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:45.21.

Eryn Leonard was third in the 100 fly (1:01.14), and was on the 200 medley relay team that finished fourth in a time of 1:57.19.

Colorado Mesa defeated Colorado School Mines 155-73 and lost to the host Northern Colorado 129-99 in the double dual.

The Mavericks will swim at Western State Saturday (Nov. 16).
