GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa scored three second half goals, including two by
Tayler Franklin, on their way to a 3-2 win over UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions at Walker Field.
"This was a massive win for us and had a lot of playoff implications on the line. For us to step up against a team like this shows we can play at that caliber," Maverick coach Erin Sharpe said about the win.
UCCS took the early 1-0 lead after scoring a goal in the 18
th minute of the match. Agnes Arnadottir scored the goal and it was her sixth goal of the season.
Tayler Franklin scored the first of her two goals just a minute and 27 seconds into the second half. Franklin took a pass from
Monica Carlos and took a shot over the goalie which found the back of the net and tied the game at 1-1.
Franklin scored the go-ahead goal just a little over 11 minutes later.
Veronica Rodriguez passed the ball to Franklin who found the goal just inside the near post. The goal was her team-leading fifth of the season and gave CMU the 3-2 lead.
"Tayler is the hardest working player in the conference. She always provides a spark for us when she is in the game," Sharpe said about Franklin's play.
The Mountain Lions knotted the match in the 81
st minute with a goal from Hannah Levett, her fifth of the season.

Ashley Wallace tallied the game-winner just a little over a minute later. Wallace received the ball off a corner kick and found the net for her third goal of the season.
The game broke a tie in the RMAC standings with both teams coming into the match at 3-2 in the conference. The Mavericks leave with an even 5-5 record on the year while UCCS falls to 6-3 on the season.
Colorado Mesa will be on the road next weekend with matches in the Denver area. They will take on the Colorado Mines Orediggers on Friday and the Metro State Roadrunners on Sunday.
