Box Score GUNNISON, Colo. – The Western State Colorado Mountaineers scored two second half goals on their way to a 3-1 win over the Colorado Mesa Mavericks at Gateway Field.
Monica Carlos tallied her fourth goal of the season and her fourth in as many matches.
Ashley Wallace had her shot saved from the Mountaineer goalkeeper that Carlos was able to put back into the net. Her goal tied the match in the 70
th minute but the Mountaineers answered back with two goals in the final 20 minutes of play.
Colorado Mesa outshot Western State 18-15 and committed fewer fouls 10-9.
Sarah Schnetzler made six saves in goal for the Mavericks.
The Mavericks record falls to 6-9 on the season and 5-6 in the RMAC while the Mountaineers improve to 6-8-1 and 3-7-1 in the conference.
Colorado Mesa will conclude their road trip on Friday with a match against the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls in Las Vegas, N.M.
