COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa senior linebacker
Jake Edmiston was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Player of the Year Wednesday (Oct. 23). The Palisade, Colo., native has a 3.82 grade point average in mathematics and statistics. He also leads Div. II in tackles with 14.9 per game. Edmiston is the first CMU football player to earn the award.
In addition to Edmiston, the Mavericks had eight other players earn RMAC First Team All-Academic honors and nine other players named to the honor roll.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.3 or better, be a starter or key reserve, and have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution.
