Mavs Race Past Regis University 77-45

Colorado Mesa (13-4, 10-3 RMAC) men handed visiting Regis University a 77-45 loss on Saturday night at Brownson Arena. The loss dropped the Rangers to 5-11 overall and 4-9 in RMAC action.

Jeff Hart led all players with 21 points, one shy of his season high 22 points, and pulled down seven rebounds. Mike Melillo was 5 of 7 from the field and finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Twelve Mavericks saw action and all scored at least two points in the lopsided victory. Paul Walter finished with eight rebounds and nine points.

CMU outscored Regis 36-17 in the first half, scoring 14 points in the paint and getting 13 points from the bench. The Mavericks held the Rangers to just six field goals in the first half.

CMU maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half, outscoring Regis 41-28 in the final 20 minutes. Regis shot 28 percent for the game (13-46) and turned the ball over 16 times. CMU shot 50 percent (25-50) from the floor, connected on 24 of 33 free throws and held a 40-30 rebound margin.

Regis was led by Dylan King's 16 points.  

CMU will hit the road next weekend in Golden versus Colorado School of Mines on Friday night. The Mavericks will play at Colorado Christian on Saturday.
