M. Basketball Preview - Metro State & Regis

Colorado Mesa will have a showdown with top ranked Metro State University on Friday night. Fans are encouraged to wear black in an effort to BLACK OUT Brownson Arena. On Saturday, they will square off with the Regis Rangers. Here is a quick preview of both matchups.

Last Week for the Roadrunners: Metro State defeated a pair of ranked foes at home. They defeated Adams State 88-71on Friday night then on Saturday eeked out a well contested matchup with the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis 71-65.

RMAC Standings: The Roadrunners are the top team in the RMAC and hold a one and a half game edge on Adams State.

Roadrunner to Watch:
Guard Brandon Jefferson (Jr., Flower Mound, Texas) is the court general for the Roadrunners. Jefferson is averaging 16.6 points and 3.1 assists per game this season. Jefferson scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out six assists in a game against Black Hills State earlier this season.

Last Week for the Rangers: Regis fell in both of their matchups with nationally ranked games. Fort Lewis thumped the Rangers on Friday night 74-52. On Saturday night, they gave Adams State quite the scare, falling 79-77.

RMAC Standings: The Rangers are currently in 10th place in the RMAC, two games behind Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands for the eighth spot.

Ranger to Watch:
Forward Demetrius Owens (Sr., San Leandro, Calif.) leads the Rangers this season in all the BIG man categories. Owens leads the team in rebounds (7.6/game), Blocks (8), and Steals (26). He had 21 points and nine rebounds earlier this season against New Mexico Highlands.
