Colorado Mesa (11-3, 8-2 RMAC) rolled over UC-Colorado Springs (2-11, 2-7 RMAC) 84-60 Saturday night for back-to-back road wins, extending their win streak to four games.
CMU led from start to finish in the contest shooting 62 percent (36-58) from the floor and forcing 23 Mountain Lion turnovers.
Jeff Hart led all players with 22 points connecting on 9 of 11 from the floor, including 4 of 4 treys. Colton Burgon finished with 18 points (8-12), five rebounds and one block. Mike Melillo recorded 15 points shooting 7 of 10 from the field, five rebounds and three steals. Ryan Stephan had nine points and five rebounds off the bench.
The Mavericks led by as many as 21 points in the first half before the Mountain Lions went on a 17-5 run to close the gap to 39-30 at halftime.
CMU opened the second half with a layup by Mike Melillo for a 41-30 lead. UCCS answered with a trey (33-41) and CMU's Jeff Hart came back with one of his four 3-pointers for a 44-33 double-digit lead. The Mavericks maintained the double-figure advantage the remainder of the game.
UCCS was led by Derrick White's 17 first-half points. White was held scoreless in the second half going 0 for 2 in 14 minutes of playing time. UCCS was out-scored 45-30 in the second half.
CMU returns home on Saturday evening to host Western State Colorado in Brownson Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
