The Mavericks got the scoring going in the 30th minute of the match. Defender Jessica Kent scored a goal on a corner kick from Tayler Franklin. Kent's first goal of the year was a header that found the top side of the goal over the goalkeeper's head. The goal gave the Mavericks a 1-0 halftime lead.

Fans that made it to Walker Field on Sunday were treated to a halftime show by the US Navy Blue Angels who were performing at the Air Show in Grand Junction over the weekend.

Just after halftime, the Grizzlies got on the board. Adams State's Laci Jones scored her second goal of the season off a corner kick that found the right side of the goal. The play surprised the Maverick defense when the ball squirted past a group of players just in front of the net. Nonetheless, the score was tied at 1-1.

Freshman Sarah Pope scored the game winner in the 72nd minute of the match. Pope dribbled through and past a host of Grizzly defenders and shot past the goalie and found the right side of the net. The goal was her team leading fourth of the season and also her team leading 12th point of the season.

Sarah Schnetzler earned the win in goal for the Mavericks as she made five saves and faced a total of 10 shots.
