The Colorado Mesa University Women's Soccer team took on the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls on Friday night at Walker Field. The Mavericks continued their winning streak, defeating the Cowgirls 3-0 in front of over 400 fans and improving their record to 5-0-2 and 2-0-1 in the RMAC. Highlands falls to 2-5-0 and 0-3-0 in RMAC matches.

Kaitlynn Holt got the scoring going early in the first half when she scored on a header in the 4th minute. The goal was Holt's third of the season and was assisted by
Daniela Salinas. Salinas crossed the ball into the box where Holt headed it into the right side of net.
In the 18th minute of the match,
Kelci Crispe scored her first goal of the season when she took a cross from Freshman
Sarah Pope and found the right side of the goal. The goal gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead headed into halftime. But, Crispe wasnt done there.
Late in the 2nd Half, Crispe scored her second goal of the game and the second of the season when she took a pass from
Sarah Pope, dribbled up, and scored, beating the keeper to the right. The two goals give her nine in her career and gave the Mavericks the deciding 3-0 advantage.
Sarah Schnetzler had her third shutout of the season and fourth combined shutout of the season. She made six saves and faced a total of 11 shots.
With the win, the Mavericks continue the best start in the school's history, starting 5-0-2. The 1997 team went 5-0-0 before dropping a 1-0 decision to Colorado Christian. That team eventually advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals after beating Northern Colorado in the NCAA First Round in front of 700+ fans in Grand Junction.
The Mavericks will continue their home stand on Sunday when they take on the Adams State Grizzlies at Walker Field. Kick Off is scheduled for 3:00pm following the Men's game.
