Women's Soccer Preview - NM Highlands & Adams State

Colorado Mesa will continue their home stand this weekend with a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchups. First up will be the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls at 7:00pm on Friday night and on Sunday they will have a showdown with the Adams State Grizzlies. Here is a quick preview of both contests.

Last Week for the Cowgirls: New Mexico Highlands dropped a 2-0 decision to undefeated Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday then dropped a 3-2 overtime match to Adams State on Sunday.

RMAC Standings: The Cowgirls are tied for 8th place with Colorado Christian and CSU-Pueblo.

Cowgirl to Watch:
Marci Johnson (So., Lindon, Utah) is the Cowgirls biggest threat on the field. She has tallied 3 goals and 2 assists on the season including a 2 goal performance in a 3-1 win over Texas-Permian Basin.

Last Week for the Grizzlies:
The Grizzlies are coming off a week where they went 3-0. They picked up a 3-0 win over Colorado Christian on Friday in Lakewood. On Sunday, the Grizzlies notched a 3-2 overtime win over New Mexico Highlands and then on Tuesday they played Western State in a non-RMAC contest and came away with a 3-2 win.

RMAC Standings: The Grizzlies are tied atop the standings with 11th ranked Colorado-Colorado Springs at 2-0.

Grizzly to Watch: Allie Mercado (So., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) comes off a week where she won RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. On the season, Mercado has 4 goals and 2 assists and had a 2 goal performance against New Mexico Highlands which included the game-winner in overtime.
