Colorado Mesa volleyball team swept New Mexico Highland 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-12) in dominating fashion Friday night at Brownson Arena in the Mavs' conference opener to improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Haleigh Higgins finished with a game high 10 kills; all coming in the third set and finished with just one hitting error in 12 attempts. Higgins added four digs and one block assist.
CMU tallied 42 kills, just eight errors in 87 attempts and never allowed the Cowgirls to settle in to the match. The Mavericks finished with 8.0 blocks including two solo blocks and three block assists by Abby Ney.
Christian Otzen and Kelly Regimbal had seven kills each and Casey Ball had six kills in two sets.
Megan Rush, RMAC Defensive Player of the Week, recorded a game high 15 digs and Otzen finished with 10 digs.
New Mexico Highlands was led by Sarah Dirmeyer's 10 kills and Marina Samoa's 11 digs.
CMU will put its four game win streak on the line Saturday night as the Mavs host CSU-Pueblo at 7 PM.
