Volleyball Preview - N.M. Highlands & CSU-Pueblo

The Mavericks open RMAC play with two home matches this weekend. First up on Friday night, CMU will take on the N.M. Highlands Cowgirls at Brownson Arena. Then, on Saturday night they will have an early season showdown with the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves. Here is a quick preview of both matches.

Last Week for the Cowgirls: New Mexico Highlands took on tough competition at the Tarleton State Tournament. The Cowgirls dropped contests to Lubbock Christian (2-3), Tarleton State (1-3), Incarnate Word (0-3), and Texas A&M Commerce (0-3). NMHU opened the season winning three of four at the Texas Woman's Tournament in Denton, Texas.

Cowgirl to Watch: Outside Hitter Darian Mullen (Jr., Rio Rancho, N.M.) has recorded two double-doubles (22 kills-17 digs vs. Central Oklahoma and 15 kills-12 digs vs. Lubbock Christian)  and has over 110 kills so far this season. She ranks 2nd in the RMAC in Kills per set with 3.86.

Last Week for the T-Wolves: CSU-Pueblo hosted the ThunderWolf Classic and came away with a 3-1 record. The ThunderWolves defeated Montana State-Billings 3-1, Missouri Southern 3-0, and Eastern New Mexico 3-1. There lone loss came to Cameron University 3-2. In the opening weekend, they went 4-0 at the Hilltopper/Rattler Classic in Texas.

T-Wolf to Watch: Middle Blocker Angela McAdams (Sr., Jarrell, Texas) has been a force in the early part of the season. She ranks in the top 5 in the RMAC in Solo Blocks (1st), Total Blocks (1st), Kills/set (4th) and hitting percentage (1st).
