The Colorado Mesa University baseball team opened a four-game series on Thursday against the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers at Canyon View Park. The Mavericks pounded 15 hits en route to a 14-4 win and pushed their season record to 22-9 on the season and 16-5 in the RMAC. The Lopers drop to 10-19 and 9-12 in RMAC games.
The win gave Head Coach
Chris Hanks 538 in his career to push past former coach Byron Wiehe on the All-Time wins list. Wiehe was 537-347 in his 19 year career while Hanks' record stands at 538-263 in his 14 year career.
In the game,
Nolan Snell got the start and gave the Mavericks what they needed. Snell pitched 7.0 innings and allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, walked 4 and struck out 11 to push his season record to 6-1.
Tim Moore and Luke Anderson pitched 2.0 innings in relief of Snell and allowed a combined 4 hits and one unearned run while striking out 2.
Justin Roslaes provided the fire power for CMU. Rosales finished the game 4-for-4 with 4 runs scored, 3 RBIs and blasted two homeruns in the game. Justin leads the team in homeruns with 4.
Tamatoa Demello and
Dustin Fackrell each had 3 hits for the Mavericks as well.
The series will continue tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00pm from Canyon View Park.
