Colorado Mesa men's basketball team fell at Adams State College on Friday night 98-92, extending the Grizzlies home win streak to 11-0.
Adams State jumped out to a 12-0 lead to start the game and never trailed in the contest. The two teams combined for 68 fouls and 92 free throw attempts. The Grizzlies held a 47-42 halftime lead while shooting 52 percent in the first half. CMU was 9 of 24 in the first half. The Mavericks were 22 of 24 from the foul line in the first half and the Grizzlies made 12 of 19 from the free throw line.
ASC maintained their lead in the second half with the Mavericks pulling to within 3 points early in the second half. In the second half the Grizzlies hit just 2 of 6 from the field but hit 19 of 27 from the foul line. CMU was 3 of 11 from the floor in the second half and 17 of 22 from the foul line.
Chandler Burgon led the Mavericks with 24 points finishing 6 of 7 from the floor and 12 of 14 from the foul line. Burgon had 8 rebounds. Michael Bear recorded 14 points (10-10 FT) and three rebounds. Jeff Hart and Nate Nelson each finished with 11 points.
CMU will travel to Ft. Lewis College on Saturday night for its final regular season game. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
