Box Score
With their last home game over two weeks behind them, the Mavericks were on the road to try and end their regular season on a high note, before heading into the RMAC postseason tournament.
The first leg on the Mavericks (16-10, 10-8 RMAC) season ending RMAC tour led them to Southern Colorado, where they beat the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves (14-15, 5-13 RMAC) (25-18, 25-19, 25-18).
The first set proved that the long bus ride, and layoff between games, was not an issue for Coach Fleming's team. The Mavericks scored the first point of the first set, and held the lead the entire way en route to the set win.
The second set was not as easy for the Mavs as the ThunderWolves scored first and held an early lead. The Mavericks however hung around throughout the second set, evening the score and staying in the set. In the end, the ThunderWolves would plateau before they could reach 20 points. CMU went on a five point run and played defense to keep the CSU-P off the board to secure the second set, 25-19.
The third set of the night looked a lot like the second. Led by kills off the arm of Kelly Regimbal and Rachel Beaty the Mavericks won their third set of the night, shutting the ThunderWolves out for a 3-0 sweep.
Kelly Regimbal led the Mavs in kills with 10, while Rebecca Sellers tallied nine kills. Christian Otzen had two serve aces on the night.
The Mavericks head from Pueblo to Las Vegas New Mexico where they will play their final game of the regular season Saturday night, against the Cowgirls (6-21, 2-15 RMAC).
