Mavs Swim to Dual Victory over Colorado Mines

Colorado Mesa men's and women's swimming and diving team each posted victories in its first dual meet of the young season. CMU women defeated Colorado School of Mines 120-73 and the Maverick men beat Mines, 129-114.

CMU opened the dual winning the 400 medley relay as Robyn Meeks, Katie Thompson, Briana Purkapile and Kelly Hogan finished in a time of 4:12.77. Hogan was victorious in the 200 free (2:01.43) and the 500 free (5:30.44) for the Mavericks. Purkapile won the 200 IM in a time of 2:16.63.

Freshman Sydney Miller and Amy Brodie each posted their first collegiate dual victories. Miller won the 1650 free in a time of 18:44.41. Brodie won the 50 free (25.24) and the 100 free (54.50).

Jillian Hayes won the 200 fly touching the wall in a time of 2:24.74.

CMU will return to the El Pomar Natatorium next Saturday to host Adams State University and Western State University beginning at Noon.

Friday afternoon the Mavericks will compete at the Air Force Academy Invitational.
