Colorado Mesa's women's swimming team defeated host Adams State College and Colorado School of Mines in a dual meet in Alamosa on Sunday afternoon. CMU defeated Adams State 49-46 and beat Colorado School of Mines 69-25.
Briana Purkapile won three events, two individual and a relay event, to help the Mavs to victory. Purkapile won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:25.61. Teammate Gina Panacci placed second (1:43.49). Purkapile won the 100 freestyle in 55.87.
Kelly Hogan won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:02.51.
All-American Jaclyn McMillen won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.40 setting and breaking her own pool record at Plachy Pool.
Hogan, Purkapile, Panacci and Katie Wedel won the 800 freestyle relay in 8:24.02. CMU placed second in the 400 medley relay with the team of Jaclyn McMillen, Katie Thompson, Katie Odiorne and Annie Jones finishing in a time of 4:17.26. Odiorne placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:05.8). Thompson finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.47).
Robyn Meeks (26.74) finished second in the 50 freestyle and Jaclyn McMillen (26.84) was third in the event.
CMU will host the Bill & Peggy Foster Duals this Saturday at the El Pomar Natatorium on the CMU campus. The meet will start at 10 a.m.
