CMU notches five set win over Southwestern Okla.

CMU (1-2) defeated Southwestern Oklahoma 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 15-6) in its first victory of the season Saturday morning at the Oredigger Classic in Golden.

Four players registered double digit kills including a double-double by Kelly Regimbal. She led the team with 17 kills and had 12 digs in the match. Antoinette McCormick finished with 16 kills and just one error in 31 attempts (.484 attack %). Melissa Hess had 11 kills and Rachael Beaty tallied 10 kills and four blocks.

Freshman Jordyn Moody finished with 55 assists and added four kills in her first collegiate start.

CMU dropped each of its first two games of the tournament on Friday in five sets. Against Southwestern Oklahoma the Mavericks jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed in the set, extending the lead to 12-4, winning six consecutive points.  McCormick closed out the game with a kill (14-6) and solo block to clinch the victory.
