CMU sets down Skyhawks in four

Kelly Regimbal posted a double-double in the Mavericks four set victory over visiting Fort Lewis College, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23 to improve to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in RMAC action. The loss drops the Skyhawks to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in league play.

Regimbal finished with a game high 15 kills and added 12 digs in the match. In 36 attack attempts she made just four errors, hitting .306 in the match. Regimbal recorded two service aces and three blocks.

Antoinette McCormick finished with 11 kills and Melissa Hess added nine kills.

Megan Rush finished with a game high 20 digs and freshman setter Jordyn Moody had 39 assists and seven digs on the night.

CMU took set one with 16 kills and a .303 attack percentage. The Skyhawks bounced back in set two despite hitting .027. FLC took advantage of CMU's 12 errors to take the set 25-20.

The Mavericks took the final two sets with the help of 10 FLC errors in set three and forcing the Skyhawks to play from behind to take a 2-1 set lead.

Set four was a back-and-forth affair with 13 ties and eight lead changes. CMU finished with 15 kills in the final set to close out the Skyhawks and notch their first RMAC win of the season.

CMU will travel to New Mexico Highlands Friday night and at Western New Mexico on Saturday.
