Mavericks Score 3-1 Win Over Regis

Box Score         The Colorado Mesa women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 win over the Regis Rangers on Sunday afternoon in the 'Pink on the Pitch' match. The Mavericks are now 3-3-0 and 2-0-0 in the RMAC while the Rangers fall to 3-3-0 and 0-2-0 in RMAC matches.
        CMU struck first in the match when Kelci Crispe launched a shot from nearly 30 yards out and found the back of the net. It was the first goal of the season for Crispe and was assisted by Freshman Daniela Salinas. The goal gave the Mavericks a 1-0 advantage.
        Colorado Mesa got an insurance goal right before halftime when Kaitlynn Holt found the goal at the 40:04 mark of the match. Holt took a cross from Kelci Crispe and put the ball past the goalie on the left side of the goal. It was Holt's first goal of the season and gave the Mavericks a 2-0 edge heading into halftime.
        The Rangers got back to a one goal deficit in the 49th minute when Ranger Maddie Reeves found the goal on a shot from about 23 yards out. Reeves goal found the left side of the net and cut the Maverick lead to 2-1.
        CMU got an insurance goal in the 71st minute on a Tayler Franklin goal. Franklin received a pass from Salinas right in front of the net and shot just past the goalie on the right side. Franklin's goal gave the Mavericks the kead and the win 3-1.
        Arielle Harris made 8 saves and received the win in goal for Colorado Mesa.
        For the 'Pink on the Pitch' match, Colorado Mesa donned pink jersey's which were then auctioned off at the end of the match. Proceeds benefit the Huntsman's Cancer Research center and to date the 'Swing for Life' organization has raised over $700,000 for breast cancer research.
        Colorado Mesa will be on the road this week starting on Wednesday when they take on nationally ranked Fort Lewis in Denver.
