The Mesa State Mavericks captured their 10th RMAC Tournament Championship today with a 6-5 win over the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks secured the automatic bid into next week's NCAA Central Region Tournament at a site yet to be determined.
Tournament MVP Greg Anderson led the Mavericks once again with a 3-for-4 performance. Anderson scored two runs and drove in three runs on the day. For the tournament, Greg hit over .500 and drove in eight runs in four game
Lefty Tim Moore got the start on the mound and pitched well. After a shaky first two innings, Moore settled in and pitched 7.2 innings and picked up his fourth win of the season. Tim allowed five runs (one earned) on nine hits, walked two and struck out three.
Taylor Hamilton came in and pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season.
Erik Nordine, Nolan Snell, and Jared Christensen all were placed on the All-Tournament Team. Nordine hit over .600 for the tournament, while Snell and Christensen both picked up complete game victories in the tournament.
The Mavericks will be watching the selection show tonight at 8pm (MDT) and find out who they will play in the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
