CMU (7-3, 5-1) women's basketball team defeated visiting Adams State College (2-7, 1-4) 69-53 on Saturday night at Brownson Arena.
Katrina Selsor led all players with 22 points and six rebounds. Selsor was 6 of 8 from the floor and 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Amy Weitzeil finished with 14 points and four rebounds. Weitzeil had 12 first-half points. Leanndra Gilbert had nine points and four rebounds off the bench.
CMU held a 29-23 halftime lead scoring the final six points to close out the half. Weitzeil's jumper with 5:23 broke a 23-23 tie. Weitzeil scored the final six points of the half.
CMU never trailed in the second half behind Selsor's 14 points. A trey by Dallas Rohrbaugh at the 14:00 minute mark gave CMU a 10 point (43-33) lead. The Mavericks maintained a double digit lead to close out the game.
CMU out-rebounded the Grizzlies 40-27 and forced 21 ASC turnovers resulting in 22 points.
ASC was led by Chloe Cable's 17 points. Cable was 5 of 7 from the field and 7 of 10 from the foul line.
CMU will return to action December 30 at Metro State College.
