Colorado Mesa University volleyball team defeated Fort Lewis College 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-20-, 25-17) in Durango. CMU improves to 11-16 overall, 6-11 in league play holding a half-game lead over NM Highlands for the fourth place in the west division. The top four teams in each division advance to the postseason tournament.
Haleigh Higgins and Rebecca Sellers recorded 15 kills each and combined for 13 digs and three service aces.
Kelly Regimbal finished with seven kills, four service aces and two blocks. Megan Rush tallied 14 digs and Sunni Rae Baird capped off the night with 41 assists.
CMU hit .286 in set one with 12 kills and clinched the match with 13 kills in set four with a .229 attack percentage. The Mavericks hit .180 on the night and finished with nine service aces and five team blocks.
CMU will close out the regular season at home Saturday night versus Adams State College, 7 p.m. The Grizzlies are tied for first place in the west division with Western New Mexico. CMU is battling NM Highlands for the final slot in the post season tournament. The Cowgirls host Western State and CSU-Pueblo this weekend.
