Kent's Heroics Lead Mavericks to 3-2 Victory

        The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team's dream of hosting a RMAC Playoff game were growing bleek after surrendering a 2-0 lead. With 1:40 left in the match, Jessica Kent found herself with the ball and took a rip. The ball found the right side of the net for the win and a home playoff matchup with the Metro State Roadrunners. Kent's goal was the first of the season for her. With the win, the Mavericks record improves to 8-6-4 and 7-3-4 in the RMAC while the Mountain Lions dropped to 8-9-1 and 4-9-1 in the RMAC.
        The Mavericks struck for two early first half goals. At the 13:48 mark, Kelly Parkhurst took a shot from about 25 yards out for the goal. It was the 2nd of the season for her and was assisted by Kelci Crispe and Sam Burneo.
        Sara Islas had the other first half goal at the 27:10 mark. The goal was her 4th of the season and was deflected off the goalie off a shot from Daniela Salinas. The goals gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead heading to halftime.
        UCCS came out and scored two goals in the second half to push the match into overtime. UCCS' goals came just under 6 minutes a part from one and other 70 minutes into the match.
        For the match, Sarah Schnetzler made 8 saves in the win and faced a total of 10 shots in the match.
        Colorado Mesa will host the Metro State Roadrunners in the First Round of the RMAC Playoffs on Wednesday November 2nd at 5:00pm at Walker Field. Earlier in the season, the Mavericks defeated Metro State 3-0 at Auraria Field in Denver. | Photo Gallery (Game) | Photo Gallery (Celebration)
