Haleigh Higgins' career high 21 kills led Colorado Mesa to a 3-2 (21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 17-25, 15-11) victory over visiting New Mexico Highlands in RMAC action Saturday night in Brownson Arena.
The win improved the Mavs to 10-16, 5-11 in RMAC action. The loss dropped the Cowgirls to 11-16, 5-11 RMAC. With two regular season games remaining the Mavericks and Cowgirls are tied for fourth place in the west division. The top four teams in each division advance to the RMAC post-season tournament.
Higgins tallied four kills in the final set as the Mavericks held off the Cowgirls 15-11 in the final set. Higgins finished with eight digs.
Rebecca Sellers registered 14 kills and six digs and Antoinette McCormick finished with 11 kills, six digs and two block assists.
Jordyn Moody finished with 49 assists, seven digs, three blocks, including two solo blocks and two kills.
Megan Rush had 20 digs and two service aces.
CMU finished the five set match with 63 kills and six team blocks.
NMHU registered 41 kills and opponent season high of 17 team blocks. Darian Mullen led the Cowgirls with 12 kills.
CMU will travel to Fort Lewis College on Tuesday before returning home for the final regular season game versus Adams State, Saturday at 7 pm.
