Box Score

Freshman Jordan Price's 100-yard kickoff return was the only points the Mavericks (2-6, 1-5 RMAC) scored against eighth-ranked CSU-Pueblo Saturday night at DeRose Thunderbowl in Pueblo. CSUP improved to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in RMAC play with a 27-7 victory.

Price's return was his first collegiate kick-off return and ties a CMU record. His record-tying run came after the ThunderWolves' first drive of the game, following a CMU punt. CSUP drove 53 yards in five plays scoring on a 3-yard run by Jesse Lewis. Price took the ensuing kick-off and scored 14-seconds later to tie the game at 7-7. He finished the night with three returns for 163 yards.

CSUP took a 14-7 halftime lead on a 7-yard touchdown pass at 9:08 in the second quarter. Each team failed on a field goal attempt; CSUP's late in the first quarter (40-yard) and CMU's Caleb Pavy missed a 44-yard attempt (wide left), early in the second quarter.

CMU's first drive of the third quarter resulted in an interception by CSUP's Josh Costa who returned it to the CMU 8-yard line. On second-and-goal the T'Wolves scored on a 4-yard pass play for a 21-7 lead. CSUP closed out the third quarter on a 42-yard field goal for a 24-7 lead.

In the fourth quarter three of the four Mavs' possessions resulted in turnovers. CSUP scored its final three points on a 26-yard field goal with 4:25 remaining in regulation.

Trevor deBraga led all players with 17 tackles, including eight solo. Domonique Lewis finished with eight tackles and recorded CMU's only sack on the day. Travis McRae recorded his first interception of the season, picking off Dausin in the CMU endzone and returning it to the CMU nine-yard line.

CMU will travel to Western State in Gunnison, Saturday, October 29. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 pm.
