Mavs fall in straight sets at Western New Mexico

Colorado Mesa volleyball dropped a three-set match at Western New Mexico Saturday night in Silver City, 22-25, 19-25, 19-25. The loss drops the Mavericks to 5-11 overall and 1-6 in RMAC action. Western New Mexico improves to 9-6 overall and 5-2 in RMAC play.  

The Mustangs registered 34 kills and just nine errors in 88 attempts (.284 attack percentage). WNMU hit a perfect .500 in the third set with 13 kills, zero errors on 26 attempts.

CMU finished with 45 kills, 24 errors and a .189 attack percentage. Kelly Regimbal led all players with 13 kills and nine digs. Antoinette McCormick had 11 kills.

Western New Mexico tallied nine blocks and closed out the 3-set match with back-to-back blocks. CMU finished with four team blocks and five service aces. WNMU had five service aces and one service error. CMU finished the three-setter with nine service errors.

Jordyn Moody had 34 assists on the night, while Megan Rush and Regimbal led the team with nine digs each.

CMU will travel to Salt Lake City on Tuesday for a non-conference match at Westminster College. The Mavericks return home this weekend to host Western State College on Friday and CSU-Pueblo on Saturday evening. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
