Colorado Mesa Swimming & Diving team posted several top five finishes at the Intermountain Shootout at El Pomar Natatorium. The Mavs hosted the first meet of the season in a two-day meet that showcased Division I talent from Utah, Colorado State and Northern Colorado.
All-American Jaclyn McMillen placed fifth in the 100 Backstroke in a time of 1:01.21. Utah's Traycie Swartz won the event in a time of 57.50. McMillen finished fifth in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:13.09. Utah's Danielle Caldwell finished first in 2:04.79.
Kelly Hogan finished fifth in the 200 Freestyle in a time of 1:57.18. Utah's Samantha Zuch won the event in 1:53.04.
Katie Wedel placed seventh in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:01.24.
Freshman diver Brooke Lera placed sixth in the women's 3 meter event. In her first collegiate meet of her career she posted a final score of 213.35. In the 1 meter Lera placed ninth (216.70).
CMU's relay teams had several outstanding performances. In the 400 Freestyle the team of Briana Purkapile, Hogan, Annie Jones and Gina Panacci finished fourth in a time of 3:43.72. In the 800 Freestyle, Hogan, Purkapile, Panacci and Jaclyn McMillen placed fourth in 8:04.47.
CMU will compete Saturday in Golden, CO at the Rocky Mountain Invitational hosted by Colorado School Mines.
