Mesa State (9-3, 5-3) defeated Regis University (3-7, 1-6) 63-53 Monday evening behind Colton Burgon's 18 second half points and game high 11 rebounds. Colton finished with 20 points and was one of four Mavericks to record double digits. Burgon was 9 of 11 from the floor.

Michael Bear recorded 13 points and four rebounds. Lance Fite and Nate Nelson each posted 10 points in the home victory.

MSC led 22-19 at the half with the Mavericks hitting just 5 of 14 from the field. MSC shot 58 percent (14-24) in the second half and hit 24 of 33 from the foul line.

Regis shot 33.9 percent from the floor and made 12 of 16 free throws. Regis' Curtis Mitchell led all players with 23 points.

Regis scored the first two points of the game and never led again until the 16:20 mark of the second half. The Rangers led by as many as four points (30-26) until MSC regained the lead on a layup by Michael Bear with 9:36 left in the game. MSC held off the Rangers the remainder of the game for its ninth victory of the year.

MSC will travel to CSU-Pueblo and UC-Colorado Springs this Friday and Saturday.
