Box Score Mesa State (8-3, 4-3) fell to Metro State (8-2, 5-1) 64-61 Sunday evening in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
MSC led 27-25 at intermission and scored the first basket of the second half to take a 29-25 lead. The Roadrunners hit back-to-back baskets to tie the game at 29-29. Metro broke a 31-31 tie on a trey by Brandon Jefferson for a 34-31 lead at the 17:41 mark. The Roadrunner never trailed again in the contest.
Mesa State trailed by as many 11 points on three occasions in the second half and rallied back with (42-53) 7:05 remaining in the game to pull to within 56-57 with 3:14 left in the game. The Roadrunners held on for the victory as their leading scorer, Reggie Evans hit five of the final seven points. Evans finished the game with 17 points.
MSC had three players in double digits including Colton Burgon's game high 18 points. Colton was 6 for 8 from the field and from the foul line. Lance Fite finished with 14 points and Michael Bear added 13 points.
MSC will host Regis University Monday evening at 7 p.m.
