Mesa State volleyball team ended their 13-match road schedule with victories at CSU-Pueblo (3-0) and Western State (3-1) to improve to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in league action.
Freshman Sarah Kemp notched a collegiate high 18 kills Saturday night against Western State College. Kemp had nine kills in Friday night's three set sweep at CSU-Pueblo.
Celest Alofipo backed up a 10-kill performance at CSUP with a 14 kill outing against Western State. Antoinette McCormick added 10 kills, two service aces and four digs.
Lindsey Reed (Jefferson) and Meagan Bosch combined for 11 kills, 13 digs and nine blocks. Megan Rush and Whitney Howard tallied 12 digs and 11 respectively.
Friday night Meagan Bosch and Celest Alofipo combined for 25 kills in the Mavericks three set (25-23, 25-20, 25-20) sweep at CSU-Pueblo. The win snapped a three match losing streak and notched the team its first league win.
MSC trailed just once in the three sets, finishing with a .330 attack percentage. Bosch posted a match high 15 kills and Alofipo finished with 10 kills, two errors in 15 attempts for a match high .533 hitting percentage.
MSC will host Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands this weekend in its first home matches this year. After 13 road matches the Mavs will play in the friendly confines of Brownson Arena for their next 10 matches. Friday night's match up versus Western New Mexico is set to start at 7 p.m.
