In the resumption of last night's game, Kearney would start it with a line drive double play for the Mavericks. After seven complete innings, the score would be tied at 1-1.
In the top half of the eighth, Mesa State would get the bases loaded with one out and Jeff Popick would bounce into a 4-6-3 double play to end the Maverick threat.
Kearney would not waste any time in the bottom half of the inning. C Felix Segovia hit a line drive homerun to left field. The Lopers would then lead 2-1 after eight complete innings.
Loper Ricky Muir was able to shut down the Mavericks in the ninth to preserve the win and pick up the save.
Mesa State will now play CSU-Pueblo this evening at a time not yet determined.
