Box Score Mesa State women gave the Grizzlies all they could handle Friday night eventually falling to Adams State 60-51. The loss dropped the Mavericks to 8-15, 5-11 and the victory improved ASC to 18-5, 12-4 in league play.
MSC trailed by just five points at half, 34-29, despite being out rebounded 21-13 by the Grizzlies. MSC's Alaina Brennan had 10 points in the first half.
The Grizzlies extended the lead to double digits twice in the second half and each time the Mavericks fought back, pulling to within five points with 4:28 remaining in regulation on a trey by Meagan Selvidge. A 6-0 run by ASC gave the Grizzlies an 11-point lead and the eventual victory for their sixth straight win.
Adams State's bench outscored MSC 25-11 and dominated the boards holding a 41-22 advantage, including 14 offensive rebounds.
Brennan led all players with 16 points and a team high five rebounds. Selvidge added 11 points, hitting 3 of 4 from the 3-point line.
The Grizzlies had three players in double digits led by Crystal Loch's team high 15 points off the bench.
MSC will play at Fort Lewis Saturday night in Durango. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
